Lesson 7 - Counting Money

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about counting money. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Identify coins less than $1 and their values.

Estimate and count coin combinations and create equivalent sets.

 

Instructions for Use

Coin Names and Values prompts students to identify the value of coins less than $1.

To use Counting Money, click the "Start" button. Click the value button that matches the coin described.

 

Converting Coins to Pennies prompts students to count coin combination to understand equivalent value.

To use Converting Coins to Pennies, click the "Start" button. to find the number of pennies equal to the coin. Input the answer in the text box and click "check" to see if the answer is correct.

 

Converting Between, Dimes, Nickels, and Pennies lets students practice estimating and counting coin combinations to create equivalent sets.

To use Converting Between, Dimes, Nickels, and Pennies, click the "Start" button to find a coin or group of coins that have the same value in cents. Input the answer in the text box and click "check" to see if the answer is correct.
