Lesson 2 - Sorting and Identifying 2-D Shapes

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about sorting and identifying 2-D shapes. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Identify 2-D shapes.

Compare and sort 2-D shapes according to side and vertices.

 

Instructions for Use

What is a 2-D shape? lets students identify 2-D shapes.

To use What is a 2-D shape?, click on the 2-D shape. Read through the Web page. Click the "Next" button to view the 2-D shapes. Move your pointer over the shapes to see their properties.

 

Shape Sort lets students sort 2-D shapes according to the number of sides.

To use Shape Sort, drag and drop the shape into one of two categories: "4 sides or more" or "Less than 4 sides".

 

Sorting Triangles helps students sort and classify shapes.

To use Sorting Triangles, drag and drop the shapes into the correct circle. Click the "start again" button to repeat the exercise.
