Lesson 3 - Locating Lines of Symmetry

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about locating lines of symmetry. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Goals

Identify lines of symmetry.

Use lines of symmetry to show halves.

Instructions for Use

Symmetry Game lets students identify lines of symmetry.

To use Symmetry Game, look at the shape shown and type the number of lines of symmetry in the box at the bottom and click "enter".

Symmetry lets students use lines of symmetry to show halves.

To use Symmetry, continue to click on the white button to observe the symmetrical shapes.

Symmetry in the Alphabet lets students use symmetry to represent halves as part of a whole using concrete materials.

To use Symmetry in the Alphabet, draw lines to show the symmetry in each letter of the alphabet. Write "yes" or "no" below each letter if rotational symmetry exists.
