Lesson 2 - Rising and Falling Temperatures

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Rising and Falling Temperatures, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goal

Use probability terms to predict whether the temperature will rise, fall, or stay the same.

 

Instructions for Use

 

Thermometer is an interactive activity that lets students experiment with temperature to predict whether the temperature will rise, fall, or stay the same.

To use Thermometer, set the blue marker to a target temperature on the scale. Fix or unfix the position of the blue marker by clicking the red triangle button. A fixed marker turns red. To change the value of the scale, click the maximum buttons up or down. To change the markers shown on the scale, click the interval buttons up or down.

Click on the "Difference" button to show or hide the difference between the current value and the previous value shown by the blue marker. Click on the "Change" button to show or hide the change of the previous value, shown by the blue marker, to the current value. Click the "Reset" button to start again.
