Lesson 8 - Communicating Information from a Graph

Use this interactive activity to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning how to communicate information from a graph. Students can try this activity on their own or in pairs.

Goal

Use math language to discuss and write about data shown on graphs or charts.

Instructions for Use

Create a Graph lets students interpret the same data in different graphic forms.

To use Create a Graph, click on the "Start Making Graphs!" button. Click on the Bar Graph icon then click on the "Data" tab. Type the title of the graph. Enter the label and value for each bar in your bar graph. Enter a minimum and a maximum value for your graph. Click on the "Preview" tab to view the graph. Click the "Print/Save" tab to print the results.

Click on the "Design" tab, change your graph to a line graph or a pie graph. Then click on the "Preview" tab again to see how your graph changes.
