Lesson 3 - Repeated Addition on a Number Line

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Repeated Addition on a Number Line, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Use a number line to show repeated addition.

Use a calculator to add numbers repeatedly.

 

Instructions for Use

Number Line lets students show repeated addition.

To use Number Line, click on the number line link. Set the number at 2, and click on the number line at 0 to start. Add 2 and click on the number line again. Keep adding 2 or skip counting by 2. Click on the arrows to extend the number line. To count back, click on the number line and move the animal backwards. Try skip counting with different numbers.

 

Interactive Calculator allows students to skip count using the calculator.

To use Interactive Calculator, start by pressing a number on the interactive calculator. This number will appear in the calculator window. Press the "+" button on the calculator, and then the same number again. Press the "=" button on the calculator. The growing pattern is shaded on the hundreds chart.

 

Techno Tortoise lets students use a number line for repeated addition.

To us Techno Tortoise, click on the +5 leaf repeatedly to skip count by fives. Click on the +10 leaf repeatedly to skip count by tens.

The applet can also be used for addition.
