Instructions for UseMath Cats Balance lets students compare the mass of different objects. To use Math Cats Balance, choose an object to place on this scale from the pull-down menu on the left. Click the arrow next to "thin cat" and scroll up and down the object lists to see all the choices. Do the same to the menu at the right. Click on the left-hand object and a small window will pop up announcing its weight. Choose the unit of measurement you want from the menu. Do the same for the object on the right. Compare the mass of the objects. Try different objects to compare their mass.
Weighing Scales is an interactive activity that lets students estimate and measure the mass of objects by adding or subtracting weights from a scale. To use Weighing Scales, set the red marker to a target weight on the scale. Show a digital display by clicking on the black dot at the button of the scale. To change the value of the scale, click the maximum buttons up or down. To change the markers shown on the scale, click the interval buttons up or down. To add weight to the scale pan, click the "+" button beside each weight. To subtract weight to the scale pan, click the "-" button beside each weight. Click the "Reset" button to start again.
